◦ How long have you been a photographer on Kauai?
I have been a wedding and family photographer on Kauai for over fifteen years. I live on the North Shore, but I travel all over the garden island. I am also available for travel to the other Hawaiian islands and the mainland, contact me for special pricing.
◦ What kind of camera do you use?
Although I was trained on film cameras, I currently use digital Canon cameras and lenses. My main camera is a Canon 1DX and my favorite lens is my 50 mm. Usually when someone asks me about my camera equipment, I like to emphasize that it isn't the camera that makes a beautiful photograph it is the person behind the camera.
◦ How do I choose a location for my session?
While booking your session, you will tell me about your vision that you have for your photographs. I will combine your vision and the side of the island of where you are staying (or live) on island and I will suggest a couple of my favorite locations. If you have small children, I do recommend locations that are close to where you are staying so that you won't have to drive too far.
◦ What is your weather policy?
Although Kauai is mostly sunshine and rainbows, sometimes we have heavy rainstorms that we occasionally have to work around. If it looks like it is going to be raining on your session date we will proceed with rescheduling to a time that works best for you. If we have to cancel because of weather, your deposit will be refunded.
◦ How will I receive my photographs?
When your photographs are complete, you will be emailed a link to your gallery. On the gallery, you will see your final photographs and will have an option to download them high resolution or web-size. Your online gallery will be online for one year.
◦ Can I order prints?
Yes! I highly recommend getting prints of your photographs so that you can cherish them forever! You can order prints and print products through your gallery link or download your photos high resolution and order them at your favorite printer. I included a print release form with your final gallery.
◦ Is there anything I should bring to my session?
Yes, I recommend bringing a towel, water bottle and if you have children, bring a (non-messy) snack. Also, keep in mind that you might put your toes in the ocean during your session, so if you have plans after your session, you may want to bring an extra set of clothing.
◦ What if I need to reschedule my session?
I am very flexible about rescheduling. Just take a look at my calendar and let me know what day/time would work best for you and if it works for me, I can change your session very easily.
◦ What if I need to cancel my Session?
Things happen and life sometimes doesn’t go as we expect. I am flexible with rescheduling your session date, however if you have to cancel your session your deposit is non-refundable. I respectfully ask that you let me know at least 24 hours in advance. Last minute cancellations will be charged the full session amount.
◦ What should we wear to our session?
I recommend classic, coordinating clothing that makes you feel comfortable and happy. For families, I recommend choosing a color scheme of 2-3 colors. Solids and subtle prints photograph well and I recommend staying away from large logos, prints and lettering. In addition, ironed/steamed clothing always looks more put together.
◦ How long does it take to get our photos?
After your session, I will send a sneak peek preview, and your final gallery will be complete approximately four weeks from your session date.
